Merry Christmas and 2024 Wrap

Good morning all and Merry Christmas!

As we come to the end of another year, it’s a great time to reflect on where we’ve come from.

The last five years have been hectic with infrastructure building, but that is finally coming to an end with the completion of our new greenhouses. This has been a long-awaited milestone, and now we can begin the hard work of repotting.

The last count showed around 160,000 50mm orchids ready to be potted up—luckily, we have a fantastic team to help with that!

This year has seen a few new faces join the Red Fox Family. Dan has come on board, and if you’ve been to the nursery lately, I’m sure you’ve been greeted by his infectious smile and happy demeanour.

We’ve also had Deane start in the last few weeks, and she has been a huge asset, helping behind the scenes with Kurt and Curtis.

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Sarah due to health reasons. Sarah’s bubbly personality is greatly missed in the nursery.

Another milestone: Mia graduated high school and will be going to university next year. She’s not leaving, though, and will still be here on Saturdays!

Let’s not forget Curtis. Curtis is our quiet achiever, consistently working behind the scenes. He does a mountain of vital work that keeps the production side of the business on track.

This year also saw us host our first plant expo at the nursery. This day was a major success, with all the nurseries in attendance having a great time, connecting with visitors, and sharing their growing advice. Mark your calendars for June 28, 2025, as we’ll be doing it again!

We’re looking forward to 2025. This will be a year of little to no construction at the nursery, with the focus shifting to tidying up and organizing—both long overdue after all the building that has kept us busy.

Please note that we will be open throughout the holidays, only closing on public holidays. We have planned some time off in February; dates will be announced soon.

A huge shout-out to our volunteers—we love and appreciate that you choose to give your time to us and are a vital part of our success.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a joyful start to the New Year! Thank you for being part of our journey!

Kurt and Jen
