Tillandsia rhomboidea

Tillandsia Rhomboidea previously named Tillandsia Acostae, was reclassified in 1994. This species is native to Costa Rica, Panama and Guatemala, where it grows as an epiphyte at altitudes of 40 to 1,600m. Tillandsia Rhomboidea is similar in structure to Tillandsia Concolor, however it is a much larger plant and has many more leaves. The foliage of the Tillandsia Rhomboidea is quite stiff, and bronze / green in colour depending on light conditions. The Tillandsia Rhomboidea develops a very nice inflorescence spike, which is chunky, and a bright orange / yellow in colour. From the inflorescence spike is produced purple, tubular flowers. The flower spike forms in October / November.
