Dischidia geri has soft green, coin-shaped leaves measuring 20mm in diameter, with new foliage emerging in a pink-red colour. Cascading form – looks stunning in a hanging basket or large terrarium.
Great for the beginner. A very forgiving species, tolerant of low temperatures and able to withstand short periods of over-watering or drought conditions!
Blooms: Tiny creamy-white, lantern-shaped flowers produced in umbels of 3-10 blooms.
Sun exposure: Medium to bright indirect light.
Water requirement: Thrives on high levels of humidity. Mist foliage daily. When potting medium is dry, submerge in container of water until air bubbles dissipate. Tolerant of damp but not overly wet feet.
Maintenance: Likes to be well fed. Half strength doses of liquid fertiliser in growing period.
Special note: Sometimes referred to as ‘Dischidia apple leaf’. An as yet unidentified species. Closely related to hoya. Roots on this species are often very fine.
