Cattleya maxima semi-alba ‘Guido’ is a species orchid offered in a 140mm pot. Best suited to bright, filtered light with good airflow. Native to Colombia through Peru.
Cattleya Orchid Care: Cattleya orchids prefer warm to intermediate temperatures, bright filtered light and good air circulation. They thrive in bright conditions and can tolerate gentle morning sunlight but should be protected from harsh afternoon sun, particularly during Queensland's hot summer months.
Cattleyas prefer to dry out between waterings and should never be kept constantly wet. Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain freely, and wait until the potting mix is approaching dryness before watering again. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
Cattleyas thrive in moderate to high humidity and benefit from regular applications of a balanced orchid fertiliser during active growth. Reduce watering and fertilising during cooler months when growth slows. Ensure good air movement around the plants to maintain healthy foliage and roots.
