Bulbophyllum coralliferum Red

It blooms in the autumn on a basal, slender, reddish, 11 to 14 cm long inflorescence with 8 to 10 flowers held in an umbel beneath the leaf. The flowers are about 2 cm long and have very different colors. The most popular form are usually whole purple except for the yellowish or white lip and white tips of the lateral outer petals, another form is white flowers with more or less purple veins, and may be entirely pink-purple except the white tips of the side petals. The concave, pointed upper calyx is directed forward, forming a semblance of a hood. On the edges of the sepal is covered with rather long and thick purple hairs. The lateral sepals are connected with each other almost from the very base to the apexes. The petals are slightly smaller than the upper sepals and also have a sharp tip and hairs at the edges.
