Platycerium andinum, the Andean Staghorn Fern, is a unique, rare epiphyte from South America's Andes, known for its striking silvery-blue, long, forked fronds and its ability to tolerate drier conditions than most staghorns, thriving in bright, indirect light, high humidity, and well-drained mounting, mimicking its natural seasonally dry cloud forest habitat. It's prized by collectors as the sole New World Platycerium species, forming crown-like growths with persistent, brown basal (shield) fronds and seasonal fertile fronds.
