Bulbophyllum compressum

Bulbophyllum compressum is found in Sumatra, Java, Borneo and Sulawesi in lowland and hilly montane forests on main branches of large trees at elevations of 100 to 600 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome with 5 to 13 cm between each obovoid, flattened pseudobulb and carrying a single, apical, erect, rather thin, elliptic, medium green, abruptly narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer on a basal, erect, 9.5 to 16 cm long, 18 to 30 flowered inflorescence with ovate to triangular floral bracts and carrying spicely fragrant flowers.
