Tillandsia pringeli

Tillandsia pringlei is a striking cliff-dwelling species native to the highlands of central Mexico — found across San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, and Hidalgo. Unlike most monocarpic utriculata-type tillandsias, T. pringlei is a prolific pupper, making it a firm favourite among hobbyists and a rewarding plant to grow.

Its many leaves form an elegant upright rosette of thin, silvery-grey foliage. The branched inflorescence emerges in shades of red, orange, or pink, bearing delicate tubular flowers in white and pale green. Over time, abundant offsets cluster at the base, forming a dense, eye-catching clump. These pups can be removed and grown on as new plants even at a very small size.

Care notes: Grows best mounted in bright light. Well suited to Australian conditions when given good airflow and regular misting.
