Tillandsia paleacea

The Tillandsia paleacea  is native to southwestern Colombia to Bolivia and in Northern Chile at elevations from sea level to over 3000 meters. Tillandsia paleacea is a stem growing species with the leaves growing in a spiral or circular arrangement that are widely separated from each other. Densely covered in light grey trichomes, it can tolerate a nutrient deficient environment. Subsequently, the Tillandsia paleacea air plant is slow to grow. However with strong light, water and fertaliser the this lovely air plant will respond with an increased growth rate. When in bloom, the Tillandsia paleacea will produce a delicate violet flower.
